Imagine lifting your carpet and finding treasure underneath!

 

This customer had lifted their carpet and discovered that they had some beautiful parquet flooring underneath. But it needed some love care and attention, which is what our services team at Artistico specialises in.

 

First we assessed the flooring and advised the customer on what needed to be done. In this case, it was a simple job of sanding the floor, buffing it with our buffing machine and then finishing it with a clear lacquer. We were even able to work around the fixed furniture such as the tv unit and radiators making sure to work diligently and not damage the customers furniture.

When sanding flooring, we use professional sanding machines that come equipped with a dust capturing bags, which reduce by a large percentage the dust released in the air from the sanding process. However in the hard to reach areas such as underneath the tv cabinet and in the corners we have to use smaller machines that do leave some dust behind. We do our best to keep the dust levels to the minimum and the dust discharge typically does not exceed 2 mg per cubic meter.


After we work our way up using various sanding grits, we are left with a bare wood flooring where any light scratches and imperfections in the flooring such as the Greek style emblem in the image have been removed. Then we polish the flooring with our buffing machine and this gives a very high quality smooth finish to which we can apply our finish. In this case the client wanted a simple natural look and so we advised the use of a clear matt water based lacquer, of which we diligently applied three coats for added protection.
